This Thursday begins the 3rd edition of the Festival Lletrescena of Teià. La Perla 29 is curating the program for Saturday, March 16th, dedicated to adaptations of non-theatrical texts for the theater, a genre that La Perla has extensively worked on. From 28 i mig, Els ulls de l'etern germà or Canto jo i la muntanya balla to Tonio el poeta, La Trena or El poema de Guilgameix, among many others. Oriol Broggi and Albert Reverendo will spend Saturday conversing with people from the La Perla community about theatrical adaptations. In the morning, they will be at Plaça Sant Martí, and in the afternoon at Teatre La Flor de La Palma.
They will be accompanied by Clara Segura, Marc Artigau, Carlota Subirós, Joan Arqué, Jeroni Rubió, Victoria Szpunberg, Espertac Peran and Marta Carnicero. They will also have Màrcia Cisteró, Xavi Boada and Montse Vellvehí who will read some fragments of adaptations. They will talk about the impulse that leads to making an adaptation, the different ways of imagining when we read and when we watch a play, the written word and the spoken word, how to capture an entire paragraph with a scenic image...
All these talks will be free and without prior registration.
In addition, on the same Saturday at 10am and 4pm, the theater group La Flor de La Palma will take a dramatized tour of different unique corners of Teià that will be the imaginary setting for various fragments of adaptations made by La Perla 29. Registrations here.
On some occasions, the idea of ??wanting to create a play from a story that one reads at home in solitude has moved us, and from this reading arises an impulse to tell this story out loud. Sometimes the impulse arises from the fascination of the story, others from how it is written, and sometimes from the challenge of telling it. In all cases, non-theatrical writing provides reading with an extra freedom above that of a play. Or an extra freedom that adds to what we normally find as a director, actor, or spectator, in front of a stage production. What are these freedoms found in the transition between two different languages? What is the difference between the written word and the word spoken aloud?
