Festival Flaix de Tardor - BCN

Performance in French with Catalan surtitles

A version of Racine’s Phèdre arrives from Lausanne (Switzerland) at Teatre La Biblioteca. As part of the international programme of the Flaix de Tardor - BCN festival, this monologue invites us to rediscover the classic through a contemporary perspective, allowing it to resonate in the present with striking simplicity, intelligence and humanity.

Synopsis

Phèdre ! is an original stage proposal that revisits the classic tragedy of Jean Racine with humor, passion and a great dose of complicity with the public. Directed by François Gremaud, this singular version is built as a monologue where a single performer, with the energy of a passionate lecturer, guides us through the dramatic and poetic springs of the work, without losing the smile or the meaning of the game.

The show highlights the musicality of Alexandrian verse and the great themes of tragedy – impossible love, guilt, desire and destiny – to make them accessible and close. Far from academicism, Phèdre ! is a celebration of theatre as a space for living transmission, capable of thrilling and having fun at the same time.
