After a life of triumphs that have made her the most feared and powerful sovereign in Christendom, Queen Isabel I spends her last days without knowing who will succeed her on the throne and continue her grand project. Many of her children have died, and others endure the unjust treatment of their husbands. There is only one head on Earth that can bear the Castilian crown: the disturbed head of Princess Juana.
