The idea of a generation that looks at and questions the others, the blending of places and languages, the journeys and time leaps through our history...All of this leads us to tell the story that Jaume Viñas brought to us five years ago. A major production directed by Oriol Broggi and performed by a young company of eleven actors eager to make the world explode.
At the height of preparations for the 1992 Barcelona Olympic Games, Alba is finishing her degree in History at the university and begins an investigation that will take her to unexpected places.Guided by her mentor and accompanied by another young historian restlessly searching for his origins, she will delve into the darkest chapters of modern Spanish history, tracing a path from the Civil War to the Olympic euphoria. Alba will have to face the obstacles of a bureaucracy reluctant to research, archives filled with piles of papers, intertwining languages, and many characters and witnesses who cannot —or will not— remember. A family thread, a journey into the past that will bring to light betrayals, love, hatred, poetry, music, and friendships that she will only be able to keep alive if she dares to look back and remember.
L’Albada is the intricate puzzle of a contemporary tragedy about the legacy of our history. From the war and postwar years, through the sixties, the paradigm shift of the democratic transition, and the opening to the world brought by the 1992 Olympic Games, L’Albada embraces the pain and silence passed down from generation to generation —the very forces that have shaped the Spain we know today. It is the portrait of a crossroads that can only be overcome with the help of others. L’Albada is a rebellious story against oblivion, against fear, and against silence.
