Synopsis

I have been re-reading this long poem for many years - more than ten thousand lines -; I have always been fascinated by its author's verse. I leave for later the audacity to bring to the stage all the universal value that Josep Maria de Sagarra conferred on his Comte Arnau, many more people are needed and time will tell. For now, I have limited myself to making a selection of a thousand and a half verses, and with the help and direction of Antonio , transfer them to the top of the stage. The choice necessarily and willingly eliminates many characters from the original story to focus the action on the three protagonists of the poem and the myth: Count Arnau, his wife Elvira and Abbess Adelais. A triangle that has served us as an argument and an excuse to bring to the public a story and a verse—l'hendecasíl.lab—that Josep Maria de Sagarra had written in his veins.
