An old, absent-minded, grumpy, and very talkative father, obsessed with his nativity scene and his morning coffee.A devoted mother, halfway between the Italian mamma and a housewife worn down by effort and suffering.The father’s brother, who lives with them, is single, obsessive, a lottery player, a bank clerk — bitter and constantly angry.A son who still lives at home, already an adult but refusing to grow up. Spoiled by his mother, he plays the fool — or maybe he really is a bit slow — and steals whatever he can find...The daughter is an independent young woman who was married to an older industrialist — boring, jealous, pedantic, and, of course, wealthy.There’s also the son’s friend, a young and shy suitor, who has a secret love affair with the daughter, who plans to run away with him and leave her husband...
This entire microcosm reaches its peak on Christmas Eve and explodes. Everyone argues, shouts, reconciles, and loves each other deeply...After all, there’s nothing like spending Christmas at home...

Carisimo espectatore... Ci siamo di nuovo! Una altra volta pensando che con il teatro potremo cambiare il mondo... La nostra esistenza è dramatica, a volte comiche e quasi sempre tragica. Ma pero ci piace tantissimo! Eh!!... È cosí!! Ci piace pensare che quello que ha cresciuto dentro noi puó uscire, e arribare fino voi... e anque... canviare il mondo!!
A Luca Cupiello, il personaggio d’Eduardo De Filippo, gli piacce su tutto fare il presepio... Ah, il presepio... no... come si dice in catalano...? Il.. “el pessebre”! això... Bella cosa! Lui vorrebe che la sua vita fosse come un presepio, ordinato e possibile da disegnare su un tavolino. En canvi non è cosí. Il signore Cupiello habita in una piccola tragedia, una realtà plena de matisos, è la sua vita e la sua famiglia, una famiglia come quella di ciascuno...
I personaggi e le situazioni di questa comedia semblen semplice pero non lo sono! Sicuramente non abbiamo potuto capire e mostrarvi veramente l’essencialità di questi caracteri che De Filippo ha creato, de tanti simplice o essencialle como sono.
E ancora dirvi che tutto questo è possibile perché esiste un equipo di laboro fantastico come è Perlina29. Faciamo quello che ci piace e questo ci fa sentire molto felici. Lentamente construimo una bella cosa, fatta per noi e fatta anche per voi, i gentilli espetatori della bella città di Barcelona (fantàstica, veramente).
E basta! Un forte abraccio per tutti quegli artisti qui hanno participatto alle prime edizioni del spettacolo, nel 2010, undici e dodici! E qui sonno parte di questa agitata famiglia qui ritorna per Natale. E anche un abraccio per tutta la compagnia Perlina29 che da dietro fanno possibile questa grata aventura.
