Festival Encalma

Second edition of the Encalma Festival: a cycle of intimate concerts at the Teatro La Biblioteca. The impetus of your Commissioners, Alguer Miquel and Alex Torrens, fell in love from the outset.

After the good experience of last year, this edition will have singer-songwriters and singer-songwriters, pop-up and young proposals, and more consolidated proposals, which will thrilled us and make us in the Library in a different way to the one we are used to.

SERGI CARBONELL + ÀLEX PÉREZ

Txarango's co-founder and composer, Sergi Carbonell, presents us with his solo project away from the festive music he had accustomed us to and invites us to a surprising journey towards a poetic universe full of delicate and sensitive sonorities. With references such as Jorge Drexler, Bon Iver, and Sufjan Stevens, Carbonell released his first album, Refugi, which will be performed. He stalks and sees with a delicious staging.

Àlex Pérez is a young musician, composer and producer. After working with different artists of the current music scene such as Miki Núezez, Lildami, Alfred Garcia and Mariona Escoda, he has decided to resume his solo career. Before the release of his next album in 2024 and tour with a band, he will present his tracks in an intimate and close acoustic format.

The musician and activist Alguer Miquel presents "When time closes our eyes", a small unpublished show of poetry where he will share a collection of texts written during the last years of travel and experiences. Accompanied by various friends of the world of culture, the exchanging Txarango offers us an intimate and close recited journey. The magical stage of the Library Theatre will be filled with verses to accommodate this unique and unrepeatable experiment. If you love poetry, do not miss it. That won't happen twice!

GEMMA HUMET

The singer and pianist Gemma Humet, one of the most luminous voices in our country, will go on the stage of the Encalma to offer us a magical tour of her songs. La Gemma is one of the artists who has most clearly permeated her work with the essence of the song of author and protest that so many good fruits have been borne in the Catalan Countries over the last decades. On this occasion, the artist brings us a series of music songs and poetry that transport it, and also transport the entire audience, to a collective imaginary.

The Gothic nave of the Teatro la Biblioteca will become a unique opportunity to enjoy close to the musical universe that the TERRAce composer has passed through throughout her career. A unique voice in a spectacular space. We couldn't imagine an autumn night without her.

ANNA FERRER

"PARENOTIC" is the temporal culmination of the personal and artistic process of the Menorcan artist Anna Ferrer, in the sense that she lives, creates and shares the integration of the opposing poles that for her represent creation and tradition, mixing her folkloric essence with electronic music.With "Tel.lúria" he made apology for this folklore which so much identifies his code. Now, resting on this internal creative struggle, she understands that she cannot create without taking account of tradition, while not letting tradition go without bringing her creativity. This is the birth of a "parenotic" project that has toured throughout the national territory and will hold the end-of-tour concert at the Encalma Festival.

ERNEST CRUSATS + MAR PUJOL

Five years after La Iaia's final album, their leader, Ernest Crusats, starts his solo career with La font gelada (Fina Estampa, 2022), before a record, a refuge. As a result of an almost radical aesthetic bet in the age of ultraprogramming, his debut is a balsam for our ears: eleven songs recorded only on eight tracks, magically connected to the environment and nature, which ask a question: is there room for the essential between so much noise? A repertory that disarms in its apparent simplicity, that introduces you into an atmosphere where time (and space) do not count and that intersects with our 1970s classics (Toti Soler or the sadly disappeared Pau Riba) without renouncing a contemporaneousness twinned with Sufjan Stevens or Adrianne Lenker (Big Thief).
Without losing the spontaneity and, of course, the talent that allows us to speak of La Iaia as one of the capital bands of the last decade, Ernest Crusats presents "The Ice Fountain" with the still recent echo of its pre-release in the Viva Music Market in Vic. That afternoon last September, accompanied by Mau Boada (guitar), Guillem Plana (bass) and Jordi Torrents (drums), surrounded a Theatre in L'Atlantida filled with spill in a climate of crafts and mystery that is emotion and - as we have already said - shelter.
